On Thursday, August 27, the International School of Mediation, through a webinar, will offer you an interesting online presentation: "Mediation: a good alternative for minor offenders." Presentation directed by Isabel Fernández Olmo, Dean Prosecutor of the Juvenile Section of the Malaga Prosecutor's Office, in which we will also have the participation of Gabriela Alés Hermosa, Director of the Master of Mediation and Management of Multidisciplinary Conflicts as moderator.
In a brief previous interview for the International Mediation School, the Juvenile Prosecutor tells us some aspects to be discussed in the webinar: “We will talk about how mediation is a fundamental tool for resolving minors' conflicts and how it is perfect for solving problems between them, in a non-judicial way, without the need for a conviction. It is not so much about the minors ending the process being friends, if that is better of course, but rather about them learning to resolve conflicts, which tend to be many.
“We have been applying mediation in the resolution of processes with minors for 20 years, with a success rate of 80%. Without a doubt, jurisdiction in minors is an example to follow in the way of applying mediation to the rest of the legal disciplines in our country. adds the Juvenile Prosecutor.
Using examples and graphic data, Isabel Fernández Olmo will show us how mediation is a more than convenient tool, not only for resolving minor conflicts, but also contributes to their subsequent learning and reintegration.
We understand that mediation is a proposal and a more than positive reality when it comes to facing and resolving a conflict between minors, not only because of the possibility it offers to resolve said conflict, but also because of the educational nature of said intervention, by offering ways more constructive alternatives to resolve disputes between them.
