March 8: Women mediators

Today, Monday, March 8, we celebrate the International Women's Day declared as such by the United Nations in 1975.

This International Day dates back to the mid-19th century, in the midst of the industrial revolution, specifically in 1857, when thousands of women textile workers decided to take to the streets to claim for his work in search of improvement of working conditions, schedule and end of child labor.

Since then, demonstrations have taken place every year to fight for our rights and ensure that both men and women are equal.

Global Alliance of Women Mediators

With the intention of increasing the participation and influence of women in peace and equality processes, different alliances and networks of women mediators have been created. Thus arises the Global Alliance of Women Mediators with the help of women mediators from different regions with the aim of joining forces around an alliance, increasing the participation and influence of women of all ages in gender-sensitive peace agreements.

From the International Mediation School we want to make special mention of all women mediators that promote mediation through a culture of peace and equality among the population, disseminating equal values, behaviors and attitudes for men and women.
