Through the Integral plan of the northern zone that is being carried out in a total of six neighborhoods of Alicante, there has taken place direct mediation to a total of 3,819 people, directed by Antonio Peral, Director of the Department of Projects.
Objective of the Neighborhood Mediation program
This project is carried out in the neighborhoods of the northern part of the city with the objective of offer the service of Mediation, Counseling and Community Intervention, to improve the lives of residents. The data collected throughout 2021 reflects that action has been taken in a total of 142 neighborhood communities, providing a total of 260 legal advice.
To the total number of users who have been served with Mediation directly, they must be added many who have benefited indirectly for the efforts that have been carried out.
Why has mediation been carried out?
There are several conflicts that were latent in the apartment blocks of the different neighborhoods that make up the northern area of Alicante. Home occupancy problems, broken pipes and flooding of floors, bad odors, animals in irregular condition, or unsanitary conditions are some of the main reasons.
The language difficulties of the people residing in this area or the basic training common among these neighborhoods adds a point of difficulty to the mediation.
“The main objective of this municipal service is prevent the deterioration of neighborhood relations and resolve conflicts and in addition to reduce the risks caused by the deterioration of buildings» explains councilor Antonio Peral.
By means of the Community Mediation Specialty You will specialize in this area and you will advise, mediate and accompany neighbors to resolve different conflicts and improve community coexistence, an aspect that is becoming more important.
