People have suffered and They suffer discomfort from the situation we are experiencing, since it is an exceptional situation that has not been experienced before and for which we were not prepared, it has caught us all by surprise, which It has had a negative impact on aspects of our daily lives.
Increase in calls to the mediation service
The months of March, April and May of last year 2020 were the ones where this increase in calls to request information from the Etxebarri Mediation Service.
Of these 39 cases in which mediation has been carried out to manage disputes, mediate a total of 29, Therefore, mediation is still being carried out with the remaining 10 to resolve the situation. These figures are in higher compared to other previous years.
It became a "special" monitoring of these cases, with several calls to find out the progress of the situation and avoid complications.
Guide to a good coexistence
The residents of Etxebarri often agreed on the type of complaints that were carried out in this situation. The highest number of complaints was registered for neighborhood noises, odors, dirt and the use of common spaces.
To alleviate these complaints, the City Council published a guide in order to have a good coexistence, where reference was made to the solidarity, not making noise, avoiding accumulating garbage on landings and reducing decibels.
Subsequently, it was carried out another guide so that there was a good de-escalation and do not generate conflicts between neighbors.
Mediation service applicants
There was external intervention to demand mediation services. Many of them were on their own initiative, but another part was derived from the municipal areas, National Police and the Urban Guard.
The aid has been in place since 2018 and was created to smooth over differences, improve coexistence and prevent confrontations from ending up in court.
