The Santander Family Mediation Service processed 103 files in 2019. Of the total, satisfactorily facilitated agreements in 64 of them, which was a higher percentage than 60%. As reported by the town's Town Hall, the majority of open files (58%) were related to the regulatory agreement, with care and custody of the minor, with visitation and vacation regimes or with financial responsibilities related to the minor.
The town councilor, Álvaro Lavín, highlighted the advantages of this mediation service since “makes it easier to find peaceful agreements and avoid going to court, reducing economic costs. It also reduces the emotional stress that a judicial process can entail,” he specified.
This resource was created in 2015 and has a psychologist and a lawyer. Both professionals also have with specific training in mediation and family therapy.
