Getting divorced is not an easy task. Alejandra García, managing partner of “Garea Abogados”, mediator and expert in collaborative law, assures in the newspaper ABC that the process is easier, cheaper and carries less emotional cost if mediation is used.
For the expert, the result of resorting to mediation "is very satisfactory, since it eliminates the possibility of a third party, the judge, deciding on matters of great sentimental significance and practical impact on their lives." In addition, it generates closeness between the two parties involved thanks to the involvement and work that the process entails, especially if there are sons and daughters involved. However, this practice is not very common, since in our country mediation is still unknown by public opinion, but also by lawyers, attorneys and judges, the newspaper explains.
The mediation of this type, is usually carried out in the offices of private mediators trained in the matter, working as neutral figures to find a solution for both parties.
It can also be carried out in professional associations (of lawyers, psychologists, attorneys...) or in public organizations depending on the autonomous community and city councils.
