Last Friday, November 4, the Mortgage Intermediation Office (OIH), an organization put into operation by the Malaga Provincial Council and the Malaga Bar Association, held an information day on mortgage and commercial mediation in Torremolinos.
The congress on mortgage mediation was aimed at lawyers who are part of the OIH, municipal officials and social services workers, to “recycle” their training in banking law. The day began with a presentation on mortgage mediation, given by an expert lawyer in the field, María José Bandera. Subsequently, a round table was held with joint proposals and measures to avoid mortgage launches in the province of Malaga.
The objective was to put on the table the dramatic situation in which many Malaga families find themselves and to highlight the great role played by the Mortgage Brokerage and Anti-Eviction Office for the most disadvantaged.
Since September 2015, the date on which this organization was inaugurated thanks to the agreement with the Malaga Bar Association, this service has been provided to citizens at risk of social exclusion completely free of charge and also on a voluntary basis, thanks to the work performed by 133 collegiate lawyers.
According to the data provided at the conference by the councillors, the OIH has attended to more than 1,571 queries since its creation, and “in just over a year, 110 people have been assisted, of which 57 were for foreclosures and 53 for evictions. due to non-payment of lease contracts.”
At the end of November, another conference will be held again in which the legal aspects related to the Mortgage Law will be debated and an exhaustive analysis will also be carried out, covering the social and psychological problems of evictions.
