The Government of the Canary Islands will launch the family mediation project. With this measure, the parties involved will have to attend an informative mediation process, prior to the trial. This was explained by the head of the General Directorate, Marta Bonnet, who also highlighted the improvement throughout this course.
“Now there will be a specific team of 33 professionals trained and experienced in this field. There will be another 10 in reserve. All of them will come from the Public Registry of Family Mediators of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands,” they explained. “In addition, the referral and communication mechanisms with judicial bodies have been improved,” Bonnet added.
This service will be located in the Court of 1st instance number 3, 5 and 15 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Mediation is a fundamental process when it comes to resolving disputes peacefully, since it is guaranteed by a professional in this field who will guide communication in an equitable, neutral, equal and safe manner. The mediator will have a maximum of six cases during the morning.
