family mediation
This year 2021, the family mediation service has served 2469 people in the Basque territory, which represents 43% more than the previous year. Figures that suggest that the resource is increasingly present and relevant.
This service has been developed to solve:
- Divorce situations in which minors are involved
- Disputes between parents and children
- Disagreements between brothers
- Lack of understanding about inheritances, family businesses, economic issues
- Pet Custody
«As we are a Family Mediation service we also deal with all conflicts that may arise from that relationship. In the end, here, in the Basque Country, there are many family businesses and within them, problems also arise that not only have to do with the company but with the relationships between brothers, uncles, grandparents, parents or whatever.» comments the mediator of this service of the Basque Government, Elia Barinagarrementeria.
This free service of the Basque Government helps through dialogue to seek an agreement between the parties in situations of family conflicts of various nature such as breakups, assets, confrontations between parents and children or siblings, etc. It can be requested by the entire Basque population with the requirement of being registered in any of the three territories: Guipúzcoa, Álava or Vizcaya and done freely and voluntarily.
