We are selecting an INTERCULTURAL MEDIATOR - SOCIAL INTEGRATOR for participation in International Protection programs.

Reporting directly to the person in charge of the reception centre, the person occupying this position will be responsible for welcoming and accompanying the recipients who join the YMCA reception facilities, attending to their needs and strengthening their capacities for their independent development in the host society.

Features

•         Provide information and guidance to participants in the reception facilities, explain the operation of the program, logistics, etc.

•       Supervision and advice to beneficiaries on those activities related to daily life, necessary for personal or family care.

•       Take the necessary steps for prevention and/or treatment in the health field.

•       Ensure proper reception and adaptation of the particular needs of the centre and provide the necessary equipment, guarantee hygienic and sanitary conditions, and ensure the correct use and maintenance of the devices.

•       Identification, design, implementation and evaluation of activities to promote coexistence in reception facilities.

•       Tracking tasks and actions assigned in the intervention itineraries.

•       Advise, collaborate and accompany the beneficiaries to the completion of procedures for access to services or management of resources.

•       Supervising the maintenance tasks of the center or from foster homes, by residents.

•       Develop and develop activities and individual, group and community dynamics, especially for adults, that promote contextualization and cultural orientation.

•       Participation in evaluation activities, preparation of reports and management associated with the process of transitioning people from one phase of the project to another.

•       Conflict prevention, management, resolution and intercultural mediation.

•       Support for the multidisciplinary intervention team in all tasks that may arise as part of daily work.

•       Coordination with the multidisciplinary team

•       Registration in internal and external databases

Required training (any of the following)

  • Qualification in Social Education, or Higher Education in Social Integration, Sociocultural Animation, Mediation

Experience requested

  •  Demonstrable experience in housing or temporary shelters for vulnerable populations, preferably migrants.
  • Previous experience in caring for disadvantaged groups

Other requirements

  • Gender equality training
  • Being a victim of gender violence or a person in social exclusion
  • Being a person with a recognized functional diversity at a level higher than 33%

Migratory emergency pool with Save the Children: Canary Islands

With the arrival of more than 5,600 children to the protection system in the Canary Islands, Save the Children is preparing for to provide support for this emergency situation.

To this end, we are actively seeking an Intercultural Mediator willing to move to Tenerife for 3 months immediately.

If you have at least Two years of experience in similar positions and/or experience in psychosocial care or protection with children at social risk in multicultural environments; and Do you speak French or Bavarian or Arabic or Dariya or Mandinka or Wolof, in a fluid way; and you come across Immediate availability to travel to the Canary Islands for at least 2 months, we invite you to sign up for this offer.

Requirements

  • University degree: Social Work or Social Ed.
  • Formed at Intercultural Mediation and Human Rights.
  • Languages: Castilian. Valuable: Arabic (Dariya, Maghreb dialects), French, Tamazight, Wolof, Bambar and/or Mandinka.
  • Rated very positively: Driving license. 

Experience requested

  • At least 2 years of experience in caring for children and young migrants.
  • Intercultural mediation and Human Rights.
  • Contexts of high cultural diversity.
  • Cooperative learning.
  • Approach to Children's Rights and Gender.

It is offered

  • Full-time and contract due to production circumstances of 2 to 4 months. 
  • For a full day, the salary is approximately 2,000 euros gross per month (prorated extra payments).
  • Possible locations: Different locations in the Canary Islands.
