The Caceres Association of Parents and Friends of the Deaf (Ascapas) has given sign language and communication support training at the Helga de Alvear Museum for workers who occupy reception, information and mediation positions. The methodology taught has included the operation of the magnetic loop, how to communicate effectively with a person with hearing difficulties, communication supports through sign language and adapted ways of accessing written information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This training, which took place in the Museum facilities, whose final objective was to strengthen the values transmitted by the Museum, as well as the inclusion of all groups in its facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the course taught, Helga's team has managed to develop their skills to explain in an introductory way content related to works of art and their subject matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, they will be able to effectively attend to any needs that may arise for a person with hearing difficulties during their visit to the establishment.<\/p>\n\n\n

As one of the Museum's informants, Ana Trejo Reyes, highlighted to the media "Today"<\/a>, the team was very interested in learning basic notions to be able to offer micro-explanations and a few insights into contemporary art, in the same way they already do with all visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sign language adds to one of those pending subjects that are little by little making a place for themselves in society and that makes life much easier for so many people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
