Demand increases<\/strong> of the Etxebarri Mediation Service<\/a> during 2020 with a total of 113 neighbors who have accessed it. Despite these data, the mediation service specialists only intervened in 39 cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crisis situation is reflected in the citizens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The pandemic <\/strong>that we currently live is having effects on everyone,<\/strong> both on a personal level and in social relationships. The months of confinement have taken their toll on citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People have suffered and They suffer discomfort from the situation we are experiencing<\/strong>, since it is an exceptional situation that has not been experienced before and for which we were not prepared, it has caught us all by surprise, which It has had a negative impact on aspects of our daily lives. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increase in calls to the mediation service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The months of March, April and May of last year 2020<\/strong> were the ones where this increase in calls to request information from the Etxebarri Mediation Service. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of these 39 cases in which mediation has been carried out to manage disputes, mediate a total of 29,<\/strong> Therefore, mediation is still being carried out with the remaining 10 to resolve the situation. These figures are in higher compared to other previous years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It became a "special" <\/strong>monitoring of these cases, with several calls to find out the progress of the situation and avoid complications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guide to a good coexistence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The residents of Etxebarri often agreed on the type of complaints<\/strong> that were carried out in this situation. The highest number of complaints was registered for neighborhood noises, odors, dirt and the use of common spaces. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To alleviate these complaints, the City Council published a guide <\/strong>in order to have a good coexistence, where reference was made to the solidarity, not making noise, avoiding accumulating garbage on landings and reducing decibels.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, it was carried out another guide so that there was a good de-escalation<\/strong> and do not generate conflicts between neighbors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mediation service applicants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There was external intervention to demand mediation services<\/strong>. Many of them were on their own initiative, but another part was derived from the municipal areas, National Police and the Urban Guard. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aid has been in place since 2018 and was created to smooth over differences, improve coexistence and prevent confrontations from ending up in court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City Council is currently in a service tender process. It will be the Gizagune Foundation<\/strong> the one who will attend the office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mediation is of great importance to resolve conflicts and to create a good coexistence between people, especially during the hardest times, such as confinement.
